Thought for the Day 15th July 2020

Today’s thought in our series about rest, sleep and the Psalms

On my bed I remember you;

I think of you through the watches of the night.     Psalm 63:6

At the close of the day, with so many thoughts buzzing around, it often seems that sleep will never come.

At such times, it’s a good idea to spend time remembering to thank God for  the good things that  happened during the day, thereby  allowing him  to fill our thoughts and calm our minds.

In biblical times, the night was divided into four “Watches”,  each of three hours.  In Psalm 63 the Psalmist says that he spent time in these “watches” meditating in gratitude to the Lord. It’s a method we can all try, and perhaps it will help us to sleep!
