Today’s thought in our series about rest, sleep and the Psalms
Return to your rest, my soul,
for the Lord has been good to you. Psalm 116:7
Maybe it’s been a stressful day. We’ve been overwhelmed by responsibilities or deadlines – or lockdown restrictions! Yet the psalmist says, “Return to your rest!”. This means that we have known calm in God, but somehow we’ve lost his peace.
To return to rest, we can remember how God has dealt so kindly with us. He is a good God. He gave us his Son. He sent us his Spirit. He will give us all spiritual blessings. We can meditate on the goodness of God in our lives We can thank him – and at the end of the day, we can rest and sleep.
