Thought for the Day 18th July 2020

Today’s thought in our series about rest, sleep and the Psalms

He will not let your foot slip

-he who watches over you will not slumber.        Psalm 121:3

The “slipping foot” refers to our not falling into mischief. The path of life can be difficult, but God is our Keeper.  In the hills of Israel, there were many slippery places. A single false step might cause a fall and injury.  This Psalm says that as we move forward in our walk with God, we will not be harmed, because, like a bodyguard, God is constantly watching over us.

We can look to him to rescue us (Psalm 25:15). We need him in the daytime, and we need him at night. He’s not sleeping, even as we drift off to sleep.
